Exploring the intellectual cores of the blockchain–Internet of Things (BIoT)

Purpose Due to the rapid growth of blockchain technology in recent years, fusion and Internet Things (BIoT) has drawn considerable attention from researchers industrial practitioners is regarded as a future trend technological development. Although several authors have conducted literature reviews on topic, none examined development knowledge structure BIoT, resulting scattered research (R&D) efforts. Design/methodology/approach This study investigates intellectual core BIoT through co-citation proximity analysis–based systematic review (CPASR) correlations between 44 highly influential articles out 473 relevant studies. Subsequently, we apply series statistical analyses, including exploratory factor analysis (EFA), hierarchical cluster (HCA), k-means clustering (KMC) multidimensional scaling (MDS) establish core. Findings Our findings indicate that there are nine categories BIoT: (1) data privacy security for systems, (2) models applications (3) system theories (4) frameworks deployment, (5) with emerging methods technologies, (6) applied strategies using IoT, (7) design (8) establishing trust (9) ecosystem. Originality/value We use CPASR method examine which an under-researched topical area. The paper also provides structural framework investigating may be applicable other domains.
